Hands down the best place to get beef - ASADO STYLE!
I LOVE their Tong Galbi (Whole Beef Rib) here at Book Sae Tong. It's what they're known for and the first thing listed on their menu. I highly recommend you call ahead and have the meat prepared ahead of time. That way, you don't have to wait too long because the Tong Galbi takes a while to cook. When you call, just let them know how many servings and how many people in your group, and the meat will already be cooking and ready for you when you arrive :)
If you love asado, you'll love the Tong Galbi. It tastes SO good and tender, and it pairs well with the pico de gallo and a dab of salt or their hot sauce! Ask for the hot sauce! I also love this place because they use charcoal to cook the meat, which makes the meat taste better. Their Chadol (Beef Brisket) and Samgyupsal (Pork Belly) is pretty good too.
A true hidden gem in Koreatown! Always my go-to spot when I crave asado :) -

KBBQ is on every other block these days in LA. While most places aren't very memorable, this place is truly a hidden gem! The specialty here is the thick cut galbi, which is asado style and served with unlimited pico de gallo on the side. The pico de gallo is fresh and delicious, and I think I may have eaten about five plates of it. They use real charcoal for a nice smoky bbq flavor, so the galbi tastes much better than a lot of the other KBBQ places. They also do all the cooking for you, so you just need to sit back, relax, and eat to your heart's content. The banchan on the side is pretty basic, but each dish is delicious and tastes very home-made. As with other Korean restaurants, the ban chan is also unlimited. I especially liked their oiee-kimchi (cucumber kimchi) as the crunchiness of the cucumber pairs well with the tender meat.
The décor is very basic, no frills, nothing fancy at all. The servers are nice when you get their attention, but I think they're usually pretty under-staffed. The ones I've dealt with have always been nice, but I think it helps that I speak Korean to them. We didn't have to wait for a table on a Saturday night, and there usually isn't a very long wait, if there is one.
It's not AYCE, so it can get pricey depending on how much you eat, but I usually spend about $30-40/person here (and we don't order alcohol). However, even though I spend that much, I leave full and happy. Each order of galbi is pretty pricey at about $30, but it's a huge, thick piece of galbi. Either way, it's definitely worth the price!! -

I made plans to meet with a friend here on a random Tuesday for dinner. We agreed to meet at 5:30, so I went a little early to grab a table, and I'm so glad I did. When I walked in, there were two tables already set with place mats and side dishes, and almost as soon as I sat down the restaurant started getting calls requesting tables to be held or orders to get started.
We had the whole beef rib and pork belly. It was a great meal, and I loved every bite, but I'm not sure if I'd choose this place as my first choice the next time I'm craving Korean BBQ. I'm very glad that I got to try it out, but I'd have to REALLY crave their whole beef rib for me to visit them again. -

Food is good~ service is sub par the wait is absolutely amazing which means there is none. It seems like majority of good Korean BBQ joints are way too packed. Trust me.. the meat is good here and though the server seems like they aren't enjoying there time working, they will bring you whatever you are asking for. why isn't this place doing good? I think its very simple. location, ambience, service.. and choice in menu. Yes they do have a good selection of meat with them being very very good.. especially the thick cuts but other than that, they only have one kind of jjigae with the rest of the menu you can't order.
